Family Familiarities
2016
Born out of thrifted, found or donated books and a bit of paint, the Family Familiarities series is a collection of familial frustrations, feuds and flopped fantasies. The series follows the story of “Melondy’s” younger years growing up in a soon-to-be broken home.
Each book was chosen for its title and arranged with its counterparts to create a thought-provoking background narrative. Titles for each piece continue to play off childhood nursery rhymes or playground sayings.

Melondy: Issues of Adolescence
2011-2014
Fabricated entirely from thrifted or donated books and a bit of paint, the Melondy series is a compendium of high school hurdles, hiccups, and heartbreaks. “Melondy” represents an average teen imprisoned by her insecurities, frustrations, and fears. Her name stems from melancholy, her wardrobe from prison garments.
Each book was chosen for its title and stacked with its counterparts to create a found poem. Titles for each piece play off childhood nursery rhymes or playground sayings, eliciting the innocence of days gone by. Each book stack reveals a story behind the teenage (unspoken) plea for meaning, maturity & love.
